Senior Help Desk Technician (Schaumburg, IL)


  • A+ certified or similar
  • Other certifications helpful, but not required


  • Experience with local government, public safety, school districts, or other public entities helpful


  • Initial responsibility will be for desktop support and administration
  • Local area network and file server support for a variety of public and private sector clients
  • Support multiple clients on a regular basis
  • Administer changes and adjustments to systems, as needed
  • Recommend the purchase of new equipment
  • Assess system performance and recommend improvements
  • Assist with developing, implementing, and enforcing policies and procedures
  • Work with vendor representatives to identify and correct causes of hardware and software malfunctions and to perform enhancements
  • Respond to and resolve difficult inquiries and complaints
  • Provide emergency response to reduce downtime, correct errors, monitor vendor activity, diagnose system failures, and conduct off-hours scheduled and as needed maintenance
  • Assist in developing, planning, implementing, and administering goals, objectives, policies, and procedures

Skills and Qualities:

  • Minimum 5 years help desk / Systems Administration experience
  • Must be an excellent verbal and written communicator
  • Must be a self-starter, highly motivated, and independent worker
  • Comfortable in a fast-paced environment, serving multiple clients each day
  • Windows Server 2003, 2008, 2012 administration
  • Basic LAN configuration
  • VMware or equivalent virtualization experience
  • Exchange 2007, 2010, 2013 experience


ERP Consulting

Consulting-related experience preferred in the following areas:

  • Applications Consulting – Financials and Human Resources
  • Mid-Tier Solutions Desired
  • Software Systems Procurement Process
  • Software Implementation Project Management
  • Business Process Improvement Analysis
  • Strong Accounting Systems and/or Accounting Experience


  • Experience leading detailed requirements and specification activities
  • Elicit requirements via interviews, document analysis, workshops, surveys, business process reviews, use cases, scenarios, business analysis, tasks, and workflow analysis
  • Develop documented business requirements, functional requirements/specifications, interface requirements, data conversion requirements, implementation requirements, use cases, and design documentation
  • Discern user requests from the client’s underlying, true business-function needs
  • Analyze and evaluate information collected from multiple sources, resolve conflicts, and interpret and synthesize high-level information into details for general understanding
  • Participate in project meetings and provide timely status updates
  • Notify management of any issues or target-date dependencies
  • Provide project management and oversight to client implementations

  • Proficiency in MS Word, MS Excel, and MS PowerPoint


  • Managing, supporting, developing, and/or analyzing ERP or related applications
  • Experience in business analysis review, documentation, and process improvements
  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, software or systems engineering, accounting, or another technology-related field preferred
  • Local-government experience helpful
